One of the World’s leading University’s, Massey University and Palmerston North’s Kingsgate Hotel have signed on as major sponsors for the 2006 World Junior Men’s Squash Championships to take place in Palmerston North, New Zealand from July 17th – 28th 2006.

Massey University have confirmed its support for the event by providing arguably some of the best sporting facilities in New Zealand. The Institute of Rugby will house Championship referees and World squash dignitaries for the duration of the event. The award winning Recreation Centre will be made available to participating athletes as a training facility during game time.

Kingsgate Hotel have become exclusive accommodation providers for championship participants during the event. Kingsgate Hotel General Manager Murray Cook (pictured left with Event Director Stu Baker) is thrilled to be involved in a truly World event in Palmerston North.  “We will be over run by squash people for 12 days next July. This place will explode. One of the plans we have for this championship event is to transform conference rooms into entertainment rooms for the participants. This will include the installation of DVD players, large screen tv playstations/X-Box’s, email and Internet access, lounge sofa’s, coffee machines/drink fountains and assorted sponsors products.”

World Junior Men’s Squash Championships organising committee Chairperson Grant Smith is thrilled Palmerston North based businesses are beginning to support this event “Massey University is one of the world’s leading Universities and boasts arguably the best sporting facilities in New Zealand. Kingsgate Hotel offered the championship participants a quality service that is only 2 minutes walk from one of the playing venues, SquashGym. We are so pleased that they have chosen to support the 2006 World Junior Men’s Squash Championships.”

Smith says “…it’s also a major coup to seal sponsors like Massey University and Kingsgate Hotel as they have significant presence in our region and will help the event gather sponsorship momentum”.

The 15th World Junior Men’s Squash Championship is expected to attract up to 300 international visitors from 25 competing nations for 12 days. The event has an estimated economic impact of  $7m and carries an event budget of well over $500,000.
